Artist Biography: Jim Davel (1932–2023) was a skilled American commercial and fine artist who balanced a professional career with his passion for creative pursuits. Born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a draftsman before embarking on a career in commercial art, working with Wisconsin Tissue Mills for over 35 years until his retirement in 1995.Davel's artistry extended beyond his professional work, as he was deeply inspired by the natural beauty of Door County, Wisconsin, where he spent over four decades vacationing with his family. This region became a wellspring for his paintings, reflecting his appreciation for serene landscapes and rustic charm. A versatile craftsman, he also created custom furniture, birdhouses, and tended to his garden, channeling his creativity into all aspects of his life.
