Vintage Indian Lake, New York Pastel by listed artist Edith H. Adams, ca 1950

Adams, an artist from New Jersey who located to the Barnaby Woods neighborhood of Washington DC after World War II created this dreamy scene of Indian Lake sometime ca 1950. Done in pastels, the work has an expressionist quality and is a very artistic portrayal of the lake for its time period. Adams’ use of a blue, green and purple color palette lends a magical aura to the composition. The pastel measures 8” x 10” and retains its original framing, about 14” x 18” overall.
