Foil paintings were done primarily between 1850 and 1890. Tinsel paintings are reverse paintings on glass with crumpled or smooth metallic foil applied behind translucent and transparent areas. When viewed in candlelight or gaslight, the effect is one of shimmering highlights. This piece is in good pre-owned vintage/antique condition. Only minor wear to the wood frame. Frame is solid wood so this is a fairly heavy piece weighing almost 10 lbs. Features two birds sitting in a cherry blossom tree. Frame and art measures approximately 13.25” x 19” at its tallest and widest points. This is a very unique piece that you don’t typically see everyday. Open to reasonable offers. Comes from a smoke free and dog friendly home. Message me with any questions.

A nice touch is the way the frame complements the painting without drawing attention away from the art.
