Offered for auction: Listed Latvian Artist: Eduards Zams oil painting on canvas, from 1948. An eBay user was nice enough to tell me that they are both wearing Latvian National Dress, called Nica, which is from a region of Latvia. She thinks they could be on a beach on the shores of the Baltic Sea. The maiden is holding a pair of Latvian knitted mittens in her hand and her headdress indicates that she was unmarried. Just magnificent! It is a large painting. Frame measures approximately 26 1/2" x 37". Signed lower left hand side "Zams 48." Back has a rip in the paper backing so you can see the age and discoloration on the canvas. Frame may have signs of handling, like dings or other insignificant flaws. Otherwise it is in fantastic condition for it's age. Will be mailed safely in a professional mailing box and insured. Biography: Artist (and sculptor) Eduards Zams was born on July 30, 1907 in Riga.
