Began as a portrait of the woman on the right during her Zoom conversation (Sky Arts TV Portrait Contest), and finished with paper cut out from various direct mail pieces and an in-utero picture of the artist's daughter, this piece runs the gamut from very personal to about as far away as you can get. Each third of the canvas has its own main character, who both holds their own space and also fits into the larger flow. Various supporting players group around as well. Casting a jaunty & bright appearance into any room, it's one of those works that could appear as a simple straightforward portrait if caught out of the corner of the eye, yet also forces a little voice tto say, "Wait a minute..." and warrants further investigation by someone who's aware, as it keeps giving the more you examine it.
