Blog Entry: The reference photos for this small masterpiece were taken at an orchid show at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. I like to pretend they were an arrangement i saw at the Kea Lani Hotel in Wailea, Maui. I was drawn to the still life by the shadows cast on the wall behind the dainty orchids posing amongst the tree branches. i modified the colors to include turquoise and magenta which accent the pale pinks and white highlights. I am planning to return to Maui next fall.
