Original Futuristic Work "The New City" by Matthew Zedler || $3,500.00 Gallery List "The New City" Today's featured piece, created from one modern artists introspective vision of man's late 21st or 22nd century living, - is entitled "The New City."This futuristic work is classified as a "Calculated Geometric Surrealist-Abstract." It was created using; oil stick, oil pastel, acrylic, and various mixed media on a 18 x 36" canvas.In thinking about our future living arrangements recently, and as well our obviously shrinking planet, I came across several new articles (and then thoughts) on our eventual need to "go up." At some point, when all usable lands are absorbed, and the space remaining is either protected or destroyed, - mankind will embark on its inevitable journey in reaching toward the heavens for additional living space. In the next 50 to 100 years, man will reach further and further away from the terra firma we hold so dear. In modern architectural and scientific thinking, quite possibly to distances many thousands of feet higher than those of the skyscrapers we see in our cities today. Whether tethered to the earth as it's base, or "suspended" somehow with advanced technologies....living to the edge of our own Troposphere (or maybe even Tropopause), will someday become a reality.Today's work - "The New City," was created with this very thought in mind. Surrealized hard-edged architectural design elements are used in the skyscraper along with reminiscent geometric shapes, giving way to the thought of this futuristic structure and it's ability to reach well beyond current limits. Dynamic colored geometric's in the structures design convey the individual dwelling and future living spaces. Above the scraper, that being the circular or orb images resting on top the dwelling, represent man-made biospheres or then "cities" if you will. All of this going on 20, 30, or 40+ thousand feet above our sea level. Can you imagine leaving home at 30K feet and then going yet upward to get to work? In "The New City" ~ this is how life works.Result for the viewer: "The New City" is an nice example of a Surrealist-Abstractionist artwork, that meaning it is a pleasure to look at for both painterly qualities and as well testing one's imagination. The painting has a well conceived/designed dynamic compositional offset schematic, which gives the work (in it's own unique way), - an overall balance. Vibrant oil pigments were used in the construction aspects of both the scraper dwelling spaces, and the bio-orbs. This adds to the works design-side visual complexity and general liveliness. The heavily applied sun-suggesting viscous mixed media backdrop leaves the viewer with a wonderful overall warmth when viewing the piece.
