Tea Weintraub Sternklar "Sunset Skylines" 1973 NYC Exhibition "BEAUTIFUL"

Tea Sternklar (1905-1997) She is recognized as an artist of international level. Her paintings have been viewed by thousands in exhibits throughout the country. Sternklar was born in Poland, but listed most of her young life in Italy (where she spent 14 years) and then Israel (15 years). Upon moving to the United States, she lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. Before retiring in 1977, she was a bookkeeper for an art supply distributor in New York City, where she worked for 15 years. During this time she taught herself how to paint and exhibited her work at exhibitions in Greenwich Village. During the Kennedy administration, one or more of her works (not this one) adorned the walls of the White House. It seems Sternklar was a favorite artist of Mrs. Jackie Kennedy. This painting from 1973 portrays a city skyline during sunset. The paintings colors are magnificent. To me, it looks as though the painting could be a view from the East River, looking across the river to Manhattan, but that is just my impression. There is a slight stain on the canvas frame mat on the lower left side. The frame matting could use a professional cleaning. This is a very beautiful painting that is surrounded by a heavy duty vintage wood frame. On the reverse side on the painting, it looks like the artist drew/wrote in what appears to be ball point pen. The writing provides the prints’ name (Sunset Skylines), the artists’ name and address and year of exhibition. The frame measures 36"X26".
