ARTIST: Stanley Robert Jones (1927-2017) English TITLE: "Ploare Looking Towards Douarnenez Brittany" SIGNED: unsigned MEDIUM: oil on canvas SIZE: 61cm x 41cm unframed CONDITION: very good DETAIL: Painter, printmaker and muralist, born in Birmingham, where studied at the College of Arts and Crafts, 1942–5 and 1948–50, teachers including Harold Smith, and at Royal Academy Schools with Henry Rushbury and Bernard Fleetwood-Walker, who had also taught him in Birmingham. He showed with Young Contemporaries, RA, RBSA, widely in Scotland and elsewhere in the provinces. The painter and collector Edward Le Bas and Graves Art Gallery in Sheffield, where Jones settled, held examples.
