Peter Max, "Liberty Head II" Mixed Media Hand Signed with COA

Liberty Head II is a 2017 work, measuring 11.25” x 8.875”, matted and framed beautifully. Peter Max painted Lady Liberty several times, in several ways, during his career as a way to fund the refurbishment of the statue (1976-1986) and annually painted her on July 4th... The remarques are a sailboat in the upper right corner and profiled woman (beautiful multicolor) in the lower left corner. Max etchings, which may represent some of the most exciting works that Max’s studio has created in years. The hand-painted elements for each etching are done with transparent layers of pigment, revealing the intricacies of the etching lines below. Once hand-colored, original remarque drawings are added in the margins of each sheet, making each one different. On wove paper from the Peter Max Studio, signed by Peter Max in pencil in the lower right margin and annotated, from the Arabic numbered edition of 495 examples, (70 Arabic numbered artist proofs, 100 Arabic numbered museum print proofs, 100 Arabic numbered hors commerce proofs, and 150 examples, numbered in Roman, also exists.)A deluxe edition from a larger plate, hand-colored with hand-drawn colored pencil remarques from the Peter Max Studio, consisting of 220 Arabic numbered examples, also exists. Essentially, collectors will be getting an original etching, a painting, and two drawings with every work! Each etching bears the embossed “Peter Max Copyright” seal in the lower left margin.
