Original Water Color by American Artist Robert Beauchamp (1923-1995). Measures 24"h x 18"w unframed. Painting appears to be in its original frame with framer's label on the back. Signed Lower Right. The painting is typical of the artist's mastery in figural expressionistic painting, vivid color, and humor. It depicts his delight in the clownish and silly depiction of the human figure. In this work a woman adorned in a flirtatious pink headpiece frolics in front of two companions, themselves adorned with accentuated headpieces. The work is set on the background of splashed golden brown, a black horizon line, and a blue and green sky. Beauchamp is exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art, The Whitney Museum, The Hirschhorn, and The Museum of Modern Art.
