Sandu Darie (1908-1991) is a well listed Romanian painter and sculptor . He spent his early years in Paris and later resided in Havana, Cuba. He joined a group of fellow artists who named themselves "Madi" and who were primarily Latin American and painted in an abstract geometric style. This style of art later became known as "Concretism". His artwork can be found in many important collections including the Fine Arts Museum of Houston, and The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Artwork for sale is a bold acrylic painting on masonite board. The artwork measures 16" high and 11 and1/2" across. Primary colors are red, black and yellow on a white background. Image features colorful triangular shapes which appear to be folding and unfolding. The painting is signed in plack paint "Darie" at the lower right (photo 11). This artwork was purchased from a Latin American art dealer. The date is unknown.
