"Warwick Lighthouse" An original framed watercolor painting by Pennsylvania artist David Young. Warwick Light is located at the southern tip of Warwick Neck in Rhode Island. The original lighthouse was built in 1826 but the current lighthouse, depicted here, was constructed in 1932. The lighthouse has always played an important role in helping to direct ships in the upper part of Narragansett Bay. Even in colonial times, some sort of beacon was always present at the point to aid the ferries that traveled between Warwick and Prudence Island and then on to Newport. The painting is on Arches 300 lb. cold pressed paper and painted with Winsor & Newton Professional Grade paints. It is double matted with museum quality mat boards, and framed under glass. The image size is: 8-3/4" x 13" Overall size with frame: 15-12" x 19-1/2" ______________________________ About the Artist David is a self-taught artist who works in both oils and watercolors. He enjoys painting rural landscapes in a sharp focus realistic manner. From the farms and barns of New Jersey and Pennsylvania and the waterways of Florida's west coast, he is intrigued by the endless scenes and subjects to paint. He finds great pleasure in painting the many Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish farms and barns that surrounds his rural Pennsylvania home. Additionally, having traveled for many years to Florida, he also enjoys painting tropical shorelines, seascapes, lighthouses, ships and the sea. He is a past member of the Lancaster County Art Association in historic Strasburg, Pennsylvania. He has exhibited with the prestigious Artsbridge Group of Stockton, New Jersey and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He's a past exhibiting member of the Tarpon Springs Art Association in Tarpon Springs, Florida, and a past associate member of the Florida Watercolor Society. Over the many years that David has been exhibiting his artwork, he has sold at group shows, small local galleries, outdoor art shows, as well as the internet.
