Original Matted Miniature Painting - United Fruit Co. Steamship - Gouache by David Young. 2-3/4" x 4-1/2" United Fruit Co. Steamship Circa 1920 Part of what was known as the 'Great White Fleet' of approx. 100 similar ships. They transported fruit from the tropics, mostly bananas and usually a few passengers to Europe and the United States. Founded in 1899, the company survived until 1970 when it was taken over by the Chicquita (Banana) Company. This is a true miniature painting. Its size is 2-3/4" x 4-1/2" It's double matted with the mat size being 6-1/2" x 8" (Plenty of room to trim down to perhaps fit a smaller frame). Painting and mat are relatively new (2023) and are both in excellent condition.
