Absolutely phenomenal unframed oil painting by beloved Greenwich Village, NYC Ashcan artist Michael Meyer Marmelstein (1927 - 1977) whose work resides in the Metropolitan Museum, the Brooklyn Museum among others. The colors are vivid and the paint coverage as illustrated by the photos is thick and wonderfully sculptural. Simply great portrait in his distinctive style. I purchased three of his works at one location on the same day, where there were several other signed pieces for sale by him as well. This piece is not signed. I am basing my assessment of this being his work on the number of paintings which were signed by him that were available as well as comparison to his style. I refer a potential purchaser to a compelling site which details many of his known existing paintings for stylistic comparison as well as his biography. CONDITION: Painting is in good overall used, vintage condition with dirt, grime from storage in unframed condition. Please see all photos. DIMENSIONS: 36" X 24"
