Beautiful early California Coastal plein air painting! So pretty! This painting hangs exceptionally well! American Artist: Mary Cornell Region: California Dates: 1935 Medium: oil on Grumbacher canvas board Signed on the front lower right Pencil signed (3 times) on verso (once on canvas board, twice around framing) with date and artist location. Measures: 12” x 16” Framed: 16” x 20” Period frame Condition: In very nice condition for age! Some spotting and or stains -mostly in background (sky), toning (yellowing)from age, margins of painting have some abrasions and loss due to painting being loose when I purchased it. As shown there The painting could use some further reinforcement as it is still loose and moves around. Surface spots and or stains from dirt/dust/debris. Could use a mild cleaning. In my personal opinion is does not need any major restoration. It’s aged beautifully! One of my favorite paintings! Touch up, cleaning and or restoration if desired to preserve artwork. Frame condition: There are some chips and dings on the frame along with paint loss, scuffing, scratches, spots, stains and wear from age/use. Still worthy of hanging. Needs repair or restoration for areas described above. Sold as-is!
