In 1969 he published his first caricature in the humorous weekly Palante and the following year he obtained the 1st. Prize in the category of White Humor in the I National Hall of Humor Horacio Rodríguez. In 1970 he entered the School of Plastic Arts of San Alejandro and later - 1973 - in the National School of Art where he studied painting and engraving; between 1977 and 1982 he completed his university education at the Higher Institute of Art, graduating in the specialty of engraving. In 1985 he completed postgraduate studies at the Higher Institute for Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig (Germany). He is a member of the Graphic Experimental Workshop of Havana, of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and has the category of Assistant Professor of the Engraving Department of the Higher Institute of Art. Since 1993 he lives in Madrid, has illustrated for magazines, newspapers and books in Spain, is currently a professor of lithography and xylography of the School of Engraving and Graphic Design in the Royal House of the Currency. LUIS CABRERA HERNÁNDEZ nace en la Habana el 30 de mayo de 1956. Se inicia en la plástica a través del humorismo. En 1969 le publican su primera caricatura en el semanario humorístico Palante y al año siguiente obtiene el 1er. Premio en la categoría de Humor Blanco en el I Salón Nacional de Humorismo Horacio Rodríguez. En 1970 ingresa en la escuela de Artes Plásticas de San Alejandro y más tarde - 1973 – en la Escuela Nacional de Arte donde estudia pintura y grabado; entre 1977 y 1982 culmina su formación universitaria en el Instituto Superior de Arte, graduándose en la especialidad de grabado. En 1985 realizó estudios de postgrado en el Instituto Superior para la Gráfica y el Arte del Libro de Leipzig (Alemania). Es miembro del Taller Experimental de Gráfica de la Habana, de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba y tiene la categoría de Profesor Asistente del Departamento de Grabado del Instituto Superior de Arte. Desde 1993 vive en Madrid, ha ilustrado para revistas, periódicos y libros en España, actualmente es profesor de litografía y xilografía de la Escuela de Grabado y Diseño Gráfico en la Real Casa de la Moneda.
