Lloyd is mostly self-taught. He started his career in Rahway, New Jersey in October 1966. As an eleventh generation Rahway native, his paintings are largely inspired by his town and ancestors, who were innkeepers of the Terrill Tavern (which still stands in Rahway), as well as carriage and sled builders.
