LATE 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN FOLK ART ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE SPORTING OIL on BOARD PAINTING of PAIR DOGS with HUNTER in BACKGROUND CHASING DUCKS, UNFRAMED[Offered for your review & consideration is this very handsome and very well preserved, late 19th century American folk art antique primitive sporting oil on board painting of a pair of hunting dogs chasing down ducks by a marsh edge or stream, with a single hunter holding a shotgun seen off to the right in an open field. The work's unsigned but the artist was clearly much better & more accomplished than a mere amateur or 'Sunday painter.' The pair of dogs appear to be well rendered springer spaniel hunting dogs, with the dog on the right & seen above the burnt sienna haired dog, having a white haired coat with rust colored spots. The two dogs appear prone & focused on the task at hand, possibly in pursuit of a wounded duck, injured & partially hidden in the high grasses of the marsh. Their long-haired tails point straight backwards behind them. The stream's rendered flowing back into a wooded tree line, with a pair of larger, older deciduous trees in the center. It was found unframed.
