The painting is in very good condition with just a couple of very small areas of paint loss. I’m guessing it was professionally restored and possibly relined, but I can’t be certain? It does have a gallery label on the back from a gallery that is still around today. The frame is definitely newer than the painting, and it is very large and sturdy and compliments the painting well. For some reason the gallery label says it is in Unsigned piece. However, I did find a signature on the bottom and a date of 1818. Perhaps they put a Unsigned because they could not identify the artist? If you look closely at the painting, you’ll see a bit of crazing. However, the paint is stable, and not flaking off and the artwork is ready to hang. Because the painting is so large it will take some extra care and cost to have it professionally packed and shipped, so please keep that in mind when making an offer. The painting measures approximately 39 1/2 x 44 1/2“ framed, and the viewable image size is approximately 20 x 25”. I took photos of the painting under different lighting to give another perspective of it. Thanks for your interest.

The canvas material looks great up close, and I like how it softens the painting’s overall appearance.
