Up for your consideration, VERY RARE watercolor/pencil painting by John Augustus Atkinson (1775-1830), depicting the Cossack of Ural Mountains (Russia). Atkinson was born in London. There he studied in the picture galleries, encouraged by Catherine and her son Paul I, and was commissioned by Paul to paint large pictures of Russian history.
