While in Paris he improved his craft at the Académie Colarossi. Hopkins embraced Parisian life and socialized with such great artists as Pierre August Renoir, Claude Monet, and Edgar Degas. His mother painted with watercolors recreationally and encouraged her son’s artistic interests.
