IMPORTANT CARL HERPFER 46" x 54" OIL PAINTING "MUSIC LESSON" IN FINE GOLD FRAME An extremely beautiful painting by this famous German artist ! Stretcher Size: 36" x 45" Framed: 46" x 54" oil on canvas The best painting I have seen from this artist (My Opinion) Carl W. Herpfer was a German genre painter of the 19th c. He studied from 1854 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Johann von Schraudolph, Philipp von Foltz and Arthur von Ramberg. Upon graduating, he stayed in Munich, took part in the art exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace from 1869, and was also represented at exhibitions in Lubeck, Dresden and the Great Art Exhibition in Berlin. Never lined, very good condition with light craquelure throughout and one very small patch as shown. Original gold frame is quite substantial and impressive with very minor wear typical for age. There is gold loss to lower have of the inside liner as seen. Please ask all questions before bidding.
