For sale is a wonderful circa 1960s 1970s modernist style still life of fruit painting which came out of an upstate Hudson valley New York private estate. We believe this painting was from an owner who lived in New York City but had a home up in the countryside. This painting came from their collection in Dutchess County. We are unsure as to who painted it but it is a sweet and very desirable painting to look at. It is a riff of Matisse style still life with a modernist antiquated touch. The artist uses paint to create an antique surface. You can see areas where the paint looks as if it’s antiqued or cracked and chipping off but this was very well intended by the artist. There is a signature in the lower right-hand corner. We have tried for hours to decipher and figure out the artists name but we can no longer come to a conclusion. Condition: Overall good. We would recommend removing the older slat board frame and adding a nice gold gilded picture frame. That would make this painting shine.
