Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and educated at the Villach Institute of Art and Museums, Anton Weiss emigrated to the United States in 1951. Weiss, like Clyfford Still and Willem DeKooning, exploits a gestural approach that emphasizes the act of painting.
