ARTIST: Attrib: Harold Cheesman RWS (1915-1982) British TITLE: "Figures On A Road" SIGNED: inscribed verso in a later hand MEDIUM: oil on board SIZE: 84cm x 70cm inclusive of frame CONDITION: very good DETAIL: An interesting painting which is inscribed Harold Cheesman 1954 in a later hand on the back - possiblY there is an inscription on the original board which matches this but now covered over by the frame backing board. We've no reason to dispute it is by Cheesman thought the date is not commensurate with WW2 when he served in the Royal Corps Of Signals across France and painted numerous subjects associated to the war - some of which held in the Imperial War Museum. That aside the Dealer Sarah Colgrave Fine Art has a similar pencil work by him currenltly on sale.
