It was hand painted oil on canvas by our talented artist in 2005. We commissioned two of this paintings for our art gallery at that time. It was stretched and framed, ready to hang.    This painting illustrates three young orphaned girls in their school dresses at prayer in the chapel of the Foundling Hospital in mid-late 19th century.  Sophie Anderson painted this painting in 1877. The size of the original painting is 68x54.8cm (26.8x21.6 inches). The original painting is currently displayed at Bridgeman Art Library in London. Sophie was born in Paris to a French father and an English mother. She left France at the start of the 1848  Revolution and travelled to the United States of America. In the US, she married an English artist, Walter Anderson, and the couple moved to  England in 1854.
