FINE SOUTHWEST WATERCOLOR PAINTING FLY FISHING R SECREST PERALTA NM TROUT & FLY

This is a super nice Southwestern watercolor signed by Robert Rae Secrest, a local Peralta NM artist. Its Estate Fresh and from a private long time collection. I was thrilled to get this piece. The watercolor shows an awesome setting and a view from the Trouts perspective of a fly landing in the water close to it looking like its ready to take the bait. Its really well done and probably from the late 50's to 70's, But what a beautiful painting. It like you feel like you could reach in and grab the fish its so realistic! The colors are great and the piece just draws you into it if you love fishing and sporting topics. Nice artwork from a Mid Century Modern time period, this guy might have been one of the best artists you never heard of. This isn't amature art, this is investment or Gallery quality art. The frame is approx 23.75" X 30.5" wide Framed, and is ready to hang on any wall. Its a sweet painting and a nice size, ready to go on any home or office or lodge wall. A tiny bit about The Artist : Robert Rae Secrest, (1924 - 10/29/2002 He was born on October 31, 1924 in Portsmouth, OH to Fred and Gladys Secrest. He attended Miami University and received his medical degree from University of Cincinnati, OH in 1948. During the Korean Conflict he was a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Major in 1969. He worked at Lovelace Clinic from 1955 to 1974. While at Lovelace he was part of the physician team who gave physicals to the original Mercury astronauts. Robert continued his education and became board certified in gastroenterology. He went on to be an Associate Professor of Medicine at Texas Tech University in El Paso and Lubbock, TX. Since his retirement in 1969 he has lived in Peralta, NM. He was also an award winning watercolor artist.
