DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is a beautiful Original Düsseldorf School Oil Painting of "Aged Woman by the Fire", circa 1870 in original period wood and gold gilt frame, ready to hang. Excellent subject matter of a masterful figural scene with beautiful shadows and play of lighting by the artist in subdued tones and even colors that are hallmarks of the Düsseldorf School of painting. It is signed "illegibly" with the date of 1870 on the lower left corner. Condition: Painting has been fully relined and restored, shows no noticeable major defects aside from issues detailed in the condition description section above while frame has wear appropriate to age including some areas of wood and gesso loss, nicks, and chips as shown in the photos photo. Size is overall with frame at approximately 15 1/4" x 13 1/4" with the painting itself measuring 10 1/2" x 8 1/2".
