Fine Antique Large Still Life Oil Painting Of Fruit James Poulton C 1860's

For Sale we are delighted to present this stunning antique still life oil painting monogram signed J P for James Poulton active (1844-1859). ~~~~~~~ This large oil on canvas of a selection of arranged exotic fruit of Pineapple, Peach, Green & Black grapes, gooseberry, plumbs pumpkin & Pear is set on a table before a rummer & gold coloured salver with continental background of neoclassical pillar and clouded skyline. Painted supremely as to be expected by Poulton particularly noted in the gooseberries showing semi clear flesh & the amber glass lidded rummer. The painting is monogram signed to to the table edge & signed dated & location to rear. Housed in what we are sure is it's original gorgeous wooden circular mount with broad Regency gilt pattern outer frame of acanthus leaf border with foliate corners. ~~~~~~~ Condition Supreme the painting came to us housed behind glass (which we have removed for transportation purposes & is not required) the stretchered frame canvas in great shape no damages no signs of repair, no losses no signs of overpainting or touch up, we removed the painting to remove the glass, dust and repaint the frame, the frame has no losses but the mount has 2 hairline cracks non detrimental to it's original condition, outer frame has a couple of small holes to closest point to wall setting possibly from screws for wall mounts we can fill and paint if required. ~~~~~~~ In my opinion having researched the artist this is not only one of his finest works but is also in fine condition when viewing what few are on offer at the present moment & I would be surprised if anything near to this appears on the market ever again. ~~~~~~~ Measurements outer frame height 86.7 cm, width 86.7 cm depth of frame approximately 8 cm at deepest, Aperture diameter 59.4 cm. ~~~~~~~ About the Artist James Poulton Lived in the United Kingdom & was active in the 19th Century between 1844 & 1860 he painted mainly still life & fruit scenes & his works have been sold at Christie's & Bonham's. ~~~~~~~ Deliverywe package supremely bubble wrap & secure all paintings in tailor made plywood crates fully bound in fragile tape browse our feedback for reassurance.
