Beautiful 1956 modernist architectural painting by Swedish/ American artist Erik Johan Smith. Watercolor on paper measures 14 x 17 inches. This image was rendered in Stockholm, Sweden during a period Smith spent there during 1956-58. Sheet is not glued down. Unframed. Painting is in good condition. Signed and dated lower left.Born in the U.S., Smith studied in France, Italy and Sweden. He was involved in the WPA, Federal Arts Project in the USA during the 1930's. His work is found in many private collections, as well as Jonson Gallery of University of New Mexico, New York's Whitney Museum and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
