Eduard Loidoldt was a well-known Austrian landscape painter of the 2nd half of the 19th century. At first, he was an officer in the Austro-Hungarian army of occupation in Bosnia which had recently been ceded, after over 400 years of Ottoman rule, through the treaty of Berlin in 1878.
