Back in New York, he attended classes with Will Barnet at the Art Students League. Girona (1914 - 2002) fue escultor, pintor, dibujante y escritor. En 1932, tras haberse mudado con su familia a La Habana, se matriculó en la Academia San Alejandro, donde estudió escultura con Juan José Sicre.
