Found at an estate sale, this lovely 5" x 7" watercolor painting by Seattle, Washington, artist Charles Y. Hayashi shows two barn swallows in flight. It’s signed with a Japanese character meaning “grove”. This painting is in a clear plastic box frame (see photos). One photo shows a ruler for scale. As is unfortunately all too often the case at estate sales, I wasn't able to learn anything about the age and history of this lovely painting. One photo shows a detail of it as viewed through a 10X loupe. Charles Y. Hayashi is a prolific Seattle artist who experiments with a wide variety of subjects and techniques.
