California Artist Willard Henderson Framed Watercolor Painting

This is a beautiful framed watercolor on paper of the Church of St. Catherine of Siena in Hornitos, California in Mariposa County.Painted by noted California artist Willard E. Henderson. Painting is matted and framed under glass that appear to be original to the painting.There is an address label from the artist on the back. Was most likely purchased from the artist himself. Painting is in excellent condition. One small speck of dirt on the mat at the bottom. I did not want to completely unframed the piece just to get it out. One small spot of damage to the frame on upper left corner. Not very noticeable. This church was right in the artist's neighborhood. The address label on the back is only 27 miles from where this church is located. Frame measures 15" by 12". Image area 11" by 8". Here is some information on the church as well as the artist: St. Catherine’s Catholic ChurchSt. Catherine’s Catholic Church watches over the town of Hornitos from a little knoll rising behind the old jail. Built in 1862, there isn’t another building quite like it in all the Gold Country. The church was built of wood along simple classic lines, and then made unique by the addition of stone buttresses on each side of the building, to help hold the walls in place. Perhaps the builders were fearful of strong winds, although more likely, they envisioned a long life for their church and wished to help it stand for the years to come.A walk through the cemetery behind St. Catherine’s will reveal the last, crumbling remains of one of the original hornitos, the above ground rock and adobe graves which gave the mining camp its name. On a nearby grave is an old wire cross which is said to be one of the town’s oldest remaining relics. The headstones in the cemetery relate just how world-wide an event the Gold Rush really was, as miners of many different nationalities made this old mining camp their final Born in Ohio on Feb. 24, 1915. Henderson was a long-time resident of Mariposa, CA. He died there on Dec. 7, 1990. Please see all the photos to determine the overall condition for yourself. Should your items arrive broken or damaged, please message us immediately. Please retain all damaged and broken pieces and packaging. We need all items documented to file any claims. eBay lists estimated times of delivery on all listings now at their own discretion. Please keep in mind that this is "only an estimate". Actual delivery times will vary. We are shipping out of Nevada so items shipping to the east coast will always take time. We provide tracking numbers for all our items so you can monitor your shipment online and have the best idea of actual delivery time. Insurance:Unfortunately, items may get damaged during shipping. We generally use our own discretion in adding shipping insurance to those items we feel may have the potential to be damaged during shipping. We will usually insure breakables over $150. This insurance is usually added into the cost of our shipping charge. Priority shipping will guarantee items up to $100 for any items. I can not be responsible for items that may be stolen out of mail boxes or off of porches. If tracking shows the item delivered, I have completed my sale. Insurance will not usually cover theft since the item was delivered. Priority shipping with signature confirmation is the only way to prevent theft. That would be at the buyers cost. Added insurance will be at your own cost and added to your invoice. Combined Shipping:If you are purchasing multiple items from our store, we will always do our best to package and ship items together. Some breakable items may require packaging separately to protect them in shipping. Other than that, most items can be combined.
