For sale is an original oil on canvas painting by the well regarded Pennsylvania and Connecticut artist William J Potter (1883-1964) Potter painted throughout many locales in America as well as in Europe and his paintings are in many institutions and collections around the world This painting features what appears to be possibly a European lakeside village scene with women and children going about their business in a small quaint village setting. In the distance there are large mountains(perhaps the french Alps) which descend down to a mountainous lake. The mountains and the buildings appear as if they could be European but it’s possible this could also be an American scene. Potter painted out west in Colorado as well.
