Although she has wanted to paint since childhood, it was not until her five children were nearly grown that the opportunity and desire made it possible. Art became a vital part of her life. Ms. Haecker died at the age of 87 in Seguin, Texas on November 12, 2012.From The Seguin Gazette-Enterprise, October 12, 1997The women artists participating in the Truly Women Art Gala were invited to share a little about themselves: Ardyth Haecker is a local artist, and teacher to many of the gala's exhibitors. She has lived in Seguin for about 10 years, ever since her husband's retirement in San Antonio. She operated her own art gallery at Hemisphere Plaza for about 10 years before moving to Seguin. She currently teaches six art classes, two in San Antonio and four in Seguin. A long-time student of art herself, Haecker says, "I enjoy sharing the gift." She says she has tried all mediums, but "I love oils - they're extremely elegant. I lean toward impressionism." Her artwork is displayed at Keepers in Seguin and at the Mooney Art Gallery in San Antonio. "I thoroughly love teaching," she said. "I enjoy the companionship." While Haecker agrees with her husband that perhaps it's time to drop some of her classes, she says it's to hard deciding which ones to give up. "I can't think of giving up teaching," she said. "And I wouldn't be able to decide on which ones to give up - I'm so attached to all the ladies." Ardyth Haecker is a local Central Texas artist who simply signs her work Ardyth. Although she has wanted to paint since childhood, it was not until her five children were nearly grown that the opportunity and desire made it possible. Art has now become more than a hobby. It is a vital part of her life. After continuous lessons from many instructors and workshops, her own personal touch began to emerge. Ardyth believes that harmonious color is the most valuable tool in creating art. The entire mood of the composition depends on proper a proper color palette. The subject of Ardyth's work is generally landscape. In Her words "I feel very comfortable with a painting that I physically visited. Watching the clouds move, the twist of the trees, the way the master artist laid them out. Nothing revives and spiritually feeds the spirit than a panoramic view of the Hill Country when the entire countryside is vibrant with bluebonnets in full bloom."Ardyth was born in Utah. She schools in the winter in Salt Lake City, and spends summers in Southern Utah in the Lasal Mountains with an aunt. From an Ardyth Haecker leaflet (1977):Ardyth Haecker, Utah born, is devoted to Texas Landscapes, from Padre Island dunes to West Texas cactus, the plains and especially the Hill Country with its beautiful wild flowers and Blue Bonnets. The nostalgic old barns and buildings are reminiscent of an era gone by and are blended into the rustic beauty of her landscapes. Ardyth has had the opportunity of studying with some of the finest instructors in this area and is most appreciative of their help and the influence they have contributed to her art. They include: Jean Burge, Paul Kime, Robert Garden, Fred T Prado
