Well done Antique original portrait painting of Wagner, famous composer in the 19th century. It is signed twice & dated twice. One signature is: Peinze 1918 The other identifies the subject: Wagner W.A. Peinze 5 30 1918 (May 30th 1918 The painting appears to be of Wilhelm Richard Wagner, the famous German composer, theatre director, polemicist, and conductor who is chiefly known for his operas (or, as some of his mature works were later known, "music dramas"). Wagner revolutionised opera through his concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk ("total work of art"), by which he sought to synthesise the poetic, visual, musical and dramatic arts, with music subsidiary to drama.
