This is an interesting and historic Antique Old Native American Indian NAVAJO Rug Weaving Oil Painting on Canvas, depicting a lone Navajo weaver in his traditional hogan home, who is weaving an intricate blanket on a wooden loom, with geometric designs throughout. Behind him, a large pottery vessel with painted stylized animal motifs can be seen. The subject gazes down at the tool in his hands with a thoughtful and calm expression, and sits on an improvised stool covered with a bear or buffalo hide. Signed and dated: "R.K. Humphrey 1922" in the lower right corner. I could not find any information on this painter, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? Approximately 15 x 19 1/8 inches. Good overall condition for over a century of age and storage, with moderate edge wear and scuffing along the edges of the canvas, and a few small pinhole tears across the painted surface (please see photos carefully.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
