Antique Floral / Botanical Pastel by Anna C. Tomlinson - 9.5x11.5” - Well Framed. For your consideration is a beautiful floral / botanical pastel by Anna C. Tomlinson (1872 - 1962). Signature to lower right of canvas. I have yet to research this artist and will leave it to the new owner to do so. This is a really gorgeous work of art. Tomlinson was a very talented artist. I appreciate her restraint, as she could have blanketed the canvas with flowers, like most. Instead, Tomlinson makes ample use of greys and browns for the boulder covered earth; pinks are used sparingly in just a few places, making the overall artwork far more realistic. Artwork is on canvas hardboard. Paper liner at in verso is newish and intact. Artwork is in great condition, and measuring 9.5 x 11.5”. Frame is in great condition, as well. However, given this is an antique piece, and this frame may be original, expect age related wear such as the odd scratch and ding. Nothing very noticeable and certainly nothing that takes away from the artwork. This piece really should be matted so it is farther away from the glass it’s under. I’ll leave this up to the buyer to decide what they’d like to do, if anything. A NOTE ON GLASS: Glass breaks far too easily in transport. Many sellers remove glass prior to shipping so they do not disappoint the owner when the piece arrives broken. I do not want all of my buyers to have to run out and purchase glass for their new piece; however, please know that glass is not a part of this transaction. GLASS IN ARTWORK IS DONATED. Buyer does not purchase glass as part of the purchase price of this work. If you would like me to remove the glass prior to shipping, please let me know. Otherwise, I tape all glass so that in the event of breakage, it does not break into small pieces that can damage the artwork. Thank you for your understanding.
