Original late 19th century British School marine oil painting depicting fishing smacks and sailing vessels navigating rough coastal waters. Indistinctly initialled lower left, possibly G.?.?. Oil on canvas measuring 127.5 by 77.5 cm (50 by 30.5 inches), housed in a substantial gilt frame measuring 160 by 109 cm (63 by 43 inches). The reverse bears a Halford Bros., 361 Oxford Street, London canvas supplier stamp dating the support to approximately 1874–1881. Atmospheric Victorian seascape with fishing boats, breaking waves and distant coastline. Presented in an impressive period frame and offered as an authentic late 19th century marine painting by an unidentified British artist.
