About the Artist: William Charles Collins (1925 - 2007) Collins painted intimate watercolors of New Orleans and the Bayou. First he sold his paintings on his own in the Quarter, then displayed his work in various New Orleans galleries. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He also studied in Munich, Germany. He did hospital and public building murals. From 1951 to 1954, he was Instructor of Drawing at Albright Art School in Buffalo, New York. From 1945 to 1967, he was Instructor of Drawing and Painting at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. From 1967 to 1972, he was at Washington University in St Louis, and from that time was Director of the Portland Art School in Maine.
