Augusto Corelli was born in Italy in 1853. In 1880 Corelli discovered the small, picturesque village of Anticoli Corrado on a ridge. Corelli was fascinated and delighted both by the place itself and by its residents, and was the first artist to set up a permanent studio there.

A nice touch is the way the frame complements the painting without drawing attention away from the art.
