Robert Lawson (1891–1957) was a New York–born painter whose career spanned multiple styles, with a strong presence in mid-century modern abstraction. Trained at the New York School of Fine Art, he also served in the camouflage section of the 40th Engineers during World War I, working alongside noted etcher Kerr Eby.
