CANVAS 24 BY 30 INCHES FRAME 27.5 BY 33.5 INCHES A plein-air desert and landscape painter of California, Utah, and Arizona, Godfrey Vesely was born in Czechoslovakia and came to the United States as a child. By 1919, he was in California where he, who was primarily self taught, studied art briefly with Hanson Puthuff and Conrad Richter. During the 1920s and 30s, he lived in Grass Valley and Long Beach and painted in the neighboring state of Arizona.He exhibited primarily in Long Beach and was a member there of the Art Association as well as in Grass Valley. His work can be found in the National Hotel in Nevada City, California, and the California State Library at Grass Valley.
