The Lightness series challenges the preconceived notion of weight within the language of contemporary painting. Through almost liquid transparencies and acrylic washes, levitating atmospheres are constructed that contrast with the usual solidity of the canvas.

The work is, in itself, a meditation on material detachment: shapes float on the canvas as if they were about to vanish into the air. It is the polar response to the weight of Dark Distill, seeking formal liberation.
